ACTIVITIES

Hoss Collar is a game where the objective is for each team to score as many points as possible in nine frames. Teams do not compete against each other, but simply try to score as many points as possible.  Each player enters their team score on their scoring slip.  The total score for all three games determines the player’s total score.  Teams consist of 2-3 people at either end of the court using a total of six discs. Court assignments are determined by random drawing before each game.

During play, each team takes turns shooting their discs into the scoring areas opposite end.  At the end of each frame, total points are entered on the scoreboard.  Scoring Note:   At the beginning of the game, a team must put one disc into the 10-Off area (kitchen). If no disc is scored in the kitchen, there is no score for that frame.  If no disc is shot into the kitchen during the first two frames, normal scoring begins in the third frame.  For the first kitchen disc only, the disc is counted as ten points. If no disk has been successfully scored in the kitchen during the first two frames, and in the third frame only, a ‘kitchen’ shot is counted as a positive 10 points.  Any disc placed in the kitchen after the first disc, results in a minus 10 point score.

The game continues until all nine frames are completed by each team.

Hoss Collar is played on Wednesday and Friday nights at 6:30 pm.  Wednesday nights is a ‘fun’ night game, no cost.  Friday nights cost $1 to play with the proceeds returned at $2 each for the top 50% scorers.

Round Robin is a game that closely follows regular shuffleboard rules.  A game is completed when one team scores 75 points or when 16 frames are completed, whichever comes first.

Initial court assignments are determined by random drawing. Each player is assigned a court, head or foot position, and starting color.  The player at each end of the court shooting the same color discs are a team.  For the second and third games, players rotate colors and/or ends of the court in order for each player to play with a different teammate in each game.

In regular shuffleboard games, players keep the same partner and play the best of three games simply changing disc colors each game whereas Round Robin players change partners in each of three games.

Round Robin is played on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 1:00 pm.

Turkey Shoot  is a shuffleboard game with three challenges.  The first challenge is to place one disc in a different scoring area on the court.  Eight discs are used with the first disc being practice only.  The second challenge is to shoot all eight discs thru a slot in a board placed across the court, then getting the disk into a scoring area.  The final challenge is to shoot all eight discs and getting them to stop while touching the lag line at the opposite end.  Only discs touching the line will be scored.  The scores for all three challenges are entered on a personal score sheet kept at the courts.  High scorers for each week are entered on a whiteboard at the courts.
