As you all know, the Betmar website has a section called “What Is-It/How do I?” That part of our website is dedicated to answering questions often asked by owners and residents.

Today, we have added a new entry provided by Laurie Black on the subject of how to properly dispose of a worn US flag. This is timely in a couple ways: many of you are taking down flags this time of the year; and Laurie’s collection box will be out only until the end of the month.

Refer to this new entry by going to the Betmar website (https://www.betmar.org) , click “On What-Is-It/How-Do I” and scroll down to “Misc: Dispose of an American flag”.

If others are aware of other means for doing this, we will be happy to include it..

Tom Brown

Many, many thanks to our Betmar family for the cards, calls, flowers, delicious food and your joining with us to honor John on Sunday for a “Celebration” of his life.  A special thanks to Judi Gearsbeck and her crew for the desserts and punch and to Jim Conzone and Marilyn Loding for the beautiful music.  John will be in our hearts forever.

2024 Men’s Club Championship Results!

The annual Men’s Club Championship was a great success with 103 players participating. The courses were in great condition thanks to the maintenance crew. The Championship staff did a fantastic job running the event and getting the very large group through the whole process from beginning to end.

A huge thank you to: Roger Staley, Ron Irwin, Tim Burns, Sue Lane, Joanne Wille, Fred Jaeger and Kelly Lloyd for all the work with the Tournament. Also, thank you so much to Sheri Huff, Carol Young, Verna Bertrand for putting together a wonderful lunch, and Susan Muller for handling the cash table. We could not accomplish such a great event without all the work from this Team.

Brad Gooding
My name is Brad Gooding, and I have been living on Kiowa Ave for the last twelve years as a snowbird from Vermont. I have been involved for years in pool operations. For 10 years, I have been on the Board of Directors for the Swim Club as the Equipment Manager and 6 years as Deck Manager. Finally, I have most operations of pools running smoothly. I am currently training a new equipment manager who’s name is Wayne Nareau. Thanks, Wayne, for stepping up and volunteering.

I am now running for the Board of Director Swim Club Security.

I plan to develop a team of Pool Rangers who will be under my supervision to inform folks of rule violations and can answer questions.

I would appreciate everybody’s vote for me for this important board position on March 14th at our regular monthly meeting.

Thanks for your consideration. I am looking forward to a new board position that needs to be active.

Thanks,
Brad Gooding

I am a third-generation Betmar resident who has been visiting this park since I was a teenager in high school. I have lived here for 12 years now in four different homes. Most people know me here as a local realtor who has been selling homes here in Betmar for over 11 years. I am currently engaged to my fiancé, Donna Smoyer, who has been a resident for over 2 years now. We are full-time residents here and care deeply for this community. I look forward to being able to help the swim club and this community grow. I appreciate your vote on March 14.

I hope everyone can attend the meeting, or at least drop by and vote 9:30 – 11:00, March 14, 2023, Apache Clubhouse

Military Whist is this Saturday in Clubhouse #3. Please be there by 6:15.

As many of you may have heard, Jan Slater and her daughter Kaylan chose to resign on January 18, 2024. One common ground’s part-time employee resigned earlier. None of them were fired.

The trustees and the Board of Directors worked together to find qualified replacements for all positions creating a smooth transition. We are happy to announce Tina Perras, whom many of you already know, has been promoted to office administrator. Linda Zervos is a new part-time employee familiar with the office accounting program. Common grounds also have a new crew member, Ralph McCarthy, who worked for another local golf course and is more than qualified for his new position with Betmar. We anticipate a smooth transition and minimal disruption in customer service, accounting, and common ground maintenance.

Please welcome the new hires, congratulate the promoted, and exercise patience as everyone adapts.

George Ferrari, President
