Betmar Youtube

Did you know that Betmar has a Motorcycle “Gang” existing within its borders????  Well, technically it’s a Motorcycle ”Activity”.  Calling it a “Gang” is sort of an insult to any legitimate “Gang”.  While there is extremely risky behavior going on within the gang, that risky behavior is limited to when they are trying to get on their motorcycles without falling over.  Really once they have accomplished getting on their bikes… they are very safe riders.  We have several couples who ride with us… basically because our wives are afraid that we might forget to come home.

Seriously, the “Gang” is extremely friendly.  We meet once a week and ride

a 120-140 miles round-trip to various restaurants.  We have also ridden to historical locations.  We have done 2-3 day rides during the winter to different Florida locations (St. Augustine, Amelia Island, Tallahassee, etc.) as a “Get-Away”…. hmm, a “Get-Away” almost sounds like something a “Gang” would be doing.

Oh well, we have no dues, no officers, and no rules.  In reality, we’re too old to remember the rules… so we just fly by the seat of our pants.

If you ride a motorcycle or know anyone living in Betmar who rides a motorcycle…. have them call Don McClintock at 330-209-3353 to get on the ride notification email list or if they have any questions.

Our first ride, for the 2025 season, will be on Thursday, January 16th.

ALL CLUBS-ACTIVITIES-EVENTS ETC.  THAT USES CLUBHOUSE #3 MUST TAKE OUT ALL THE ITEMS IN THE REFRIGERATOR AND FREEZER EVERY TIME THEY USE THE HALL.  THAT INCLUDES EVERYONE.  There are multiple items in both the freezer and refrigerator that will be cleaned out SUNDAY and tossed if left in there.  We have lots of CLUBHOUSE users that need to have access to the entire appliance when they pay rent to use the facility.  NO DRINKS, FOOD ETC. NEED TO BE LEFT in REFRIG since we have the pleasure of an ICE MAKER.  Just bring cups and use the ice. NO ICE CREAM OR OTHER FOOD ITEMS LEFT in FREEZER.
Sorry to be so blunt, but I have gotten many complaints from other users.  Also, your club/activity/event has to be BOARD APPROVED before you can use facilities in the park. ALSO, a RESERVATION FORM needs to be completed and signed, then given to DENISE RADER in COMMUNICATIONS to be able use the CLUBHOUSES.  TRUSTEES will refuse usage if not following the rules and regulations of the Policy & Procedures.

Golf Club
Hello fellow Golf Club Members and also to all of you thinking about joining.
It has been a very tough year for us golfers. The weather was not very kind to us and alot of decisions had to be made based on course conditions that didn’t make many of us very happy.
With that being said, I’d like to let everyone know about a few things coming out that should spin some positive thoughts about our future.
There will not be any increase in fees for the upcoming season! Everything stays the same.
Also, the courses will not be shutdown on a weekly basis, Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays for maintenance. The Properties and Course Superintendent have worked it out so that all courses will remain open unless there happens to be a situation that would require to shut one down!
Hopefully, #9 gold will open this coming Monday and the White course will follow within the week or 2. So it shouldn’t be long and we can get all the leagues going and get things back to some kind of normal.
I want to thank everyone that volunteered and came out and helped Paul Marichal with debris clean up.
Let’s all get back to golfing and enjoying this awesome amenity we have here in our great community of Betmar.

CREATIVE WRITERS GROUP

You don’t need to be a writer to join the fun and fellowship of our Creative Writers Group.
Monday mornings the Apache Clubhouse will be full of amazing stories, biographies,  poems and lots of memories. We enjoy listening to tales told by our old friends and some new folks who have joined our Creative Writers in recent years.
Although we come from widely diverse backgrounds, we often find that we have many experiences in common to share with each other. Some of our group are busy writing their life stories for their own children and grandchildren to remember them by. And others just want to share their love of a good story and enjoy writing it in their own words. We even supply writing prompts if you’re suffering” brain drought!”
So, we would be happy to have you join us on any Monday morning from 9:00-11:00 am in the White Room of Apache Clubhouse. We know it is early, but we are all in good spirits as we share our words with one another. Come and enjoy sharing and reminiscing with us.

Happy to announce that starting Monday morning at 7am the Gold course will no longer be cart path only. Please use the 90 degree rule to approach your ball!
Night golf has been cancelled for Friday 11/15/24.

Betmar Calendar—We’ve made it BETTER !!

If you’ve clicked into the Betmar Calendar lately,  you may have noticed that we made it even better.   Still the same default “agenda”  view,  but now a little easier to follow.  Up by the month,  you can use the arrows to move forward a day at a time,  and it will show a week out from every point.

But here’s the BONUS….  If you click on any event that you want to attend,  it offers a “Copy to my Calendar” option…this places the event directly onto your personal calendar you use on your phone or computer….and just that event, not the entire Betmar schedule.   This allows you to personalize a calendar to YOUR plan.

Creative Writers Group

Creative writer’s Group meets  9 to 11 every Monday from November through April at the
Apache Clubhouse.  We would love to have any Betmar resident join us. If you enjoy writing poetry, short stories, articles, or even keeping  a journal you have all the skills you need.  At the meeting we each take a few minutes to read our writing and then share memories of similar occasions in our lives or comment on the thoughts it inspired in us or the original ideas the writer shared.  Most of us rely on our own imagination or experiences, but occasionally suggestions are offered for future scripts. Feel free to come to our first get-togethers for this season  and see if it would be of interest to you. Our first meeting this autumn will be November 11th. We look forward to meeting you.

Betmar Notes

We have a large gator lurking in Memorial pond. We are just going to watch and see if he goes away thru our waters. But, be cautious walking around the pond especially with your little dogs. I heard they can move fast.  If we leave them alone, they will leave us alone. If he stays too long and is a nuisance we can have them relocated.

Lots of talk about building permits. Go to planning@mypasco.net, click on services, then click on construction. A list is posted as to when a building permit is NOT required. They are waiving initial fees for permits.  A resident can hire anyone they want but; it should be a licensed contractor, as they will carry the liability for the repairs.  A homeowner can pull a permit; but, it takes a long time to get the permit.  Have the contractor pull the permit as it takes them one day.  Do they have to wait for a permit to start work?  Her answer is “well they are supposed to”.  You can pull a permit after the fact and I asked if the fees will be doubled as is the normal procedure and her answer was “May Not”.     They realize a lot of repairs are going on and their large focus will be on roofs. So as we have said all along make sure your roofer is licensed in Florida and they pull a permit. This is required by insurance also.
