MICHELLE’S MESSAGE
Welcome to June! Today kicks off our three months of activities providing events for Betmarians. Sandy Beddingfield does so much for us during peak snowbird season, she needs a well-deserved break. Thank you, Sandy!!! Therefore, Melinda and I have something scheduled for you every week. Yesterday was the first outing at Swamp Fever with an air boat ride on Lake Panasoffkee and it was awesome! Please stay informed so you don’t miss out. This summer is going to be a great one!! A list of activities can be found in the communications lobby on the book shelf and at coffee hour!
Next week we celebrate Fathers!! Here a Betmar resident shares about her Betmar Dad:
On this Father’s Day, I would like to honor my Dad for all he has done for Betmar. He moved in on the northwest corner of Joe and K in 1980. Tom Donelan did golf and helped with scramble. Then he took over the Thursday singles handicaps skipping to his Tandy pc he volunteered to design a file on that PC to set up a phone directory for the park. There were approximately 1000 records of info he put in for the Betmar phone book. He volunteered in Communications and reported news to newspapers outside of Betmar. He went on board as assistant to Dan Maiden he served two more years as head of Communications. He requested the board to buy a PC which was approved and he set up the first PC for Communications Tom and Keith O’Connor set up and trained many volunteers on the operations cliff, Lighthizer was his assistant and provided many new ideas to improve the communication system in 1988 Kent Barnes chairman of the Board of trustees asked Tom to set up a PC program for the Office, Tom, Taught Arlene Ayers and others using a file he designed. He designed files for Golf and Swim Club’s. He taught them how to send him back files during the summer months. He set up a computer system for the library. Bill. Groh, a trustee had hand written notes containing the inventory of all Betmar Tom took the notes and designed an inventory file for all Betmar properties. After serving many years, Tom retired from his part-time work in the office in 2001. He served Betmar with outstanding service and devotion. I am so proud of my dad Thomas Donelan.
VOLUNTEER SHOUT OUT thank you Bernie for filling in for Melinda these last two weeks and being willing to sing and dance with me today-Tea For Two!
ACTIVITIES
*I hope you’re all doing well. I’m excited to share an important update regarding our website’s “Contact the Betmar Board” feature. We have recently implemented a new ReCAPTCHA system to enhance security and ensure that our communications remain spam-free and efficient.
This new addition aims to protect our board from automated submissions and ensure that all inquiries we receive are legitimate. It’s a user-friendly feature that will require visitors to complete a simple verification process before they can submit their messages to us.
We believe this upgrade will significantly improve our interaction with the community and help us manage communications more effectively. If you have any questions or need further information about the new ReCAPTCHA system, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Thank you for your attention to this update and for your continued support in making our website a secure and efficient platform for everyone.
RE captcha simply means you will need to place a check mark in the square answering – I am not a robot.

JOKE OF THE DAY In honor of Father’s Day and the Tea Party coming up:
On Father’s Day a little boy decides to make his dad breakfast in bed. He makes scrambled eggs, toast, and coffee. He brings it to his dad, hands him a cup of coffee and says, “try it dad!” The father takes a sip and nearly gags because it is so strong. The little boy asks, “Dad, how do you like it?” Trying not to hurt his feelings, the dad replies “this is something else! I’ve never tasted coffee like this before son.”
The little boy smiles from ear to ear and says, “drink some more dad!”
As the father’s drinking, he notices 2 army men in the bottom of the cup. “Hey why did you put army men in here?”
The little boy again smiles and sings “the best part of waking up is soldiers in your cup”
